How's it going everyone?
I would like to discuss soda pop today and how unhealthy drinking it can be. I abandoned pop years ago once I realised how bad it was. In fact, many people can become over weight just by drinking a huge excess of pop. It's called drinking calories and much more with it, and this is a bad thing. The idea of drinking calories period is a no no, unless you are drinking protein shakes or other healthy concoctions. If you are new to my weight loss blog, please view my post about great cardio exercises, please visit my other postings as well to tag along with me in my fight against the obesity epidemic.
I was in psychology class today, when I analysed how many people were drinking soda. Much to my surprise, nearly half was doing so. I also noticed the correlation of obesity and drinking soda. Not one person that had a soda was of a good weight or health standing, and they were all at least somewhat over weight. You may notice this if you pay attention, though this does not mean that the only people who drink pop are over weight by any means.
Every can of pop has roughly 40g of sugar. One teaspoon of sugar is about 4.2g, so do the math. A can of pop contains roughly 9 TEASPOONS of sugar. WOW! A dinky little can contains that much sugar? Once I learned this fact, I realised that a large part of my past weight issue was due to drinking 5-6 cans of mountain dew everyday. I was shocked to find out that I was consuming about 54 teaspoons of sugar just from the soda I was drinking. This didn't include the other 3,000 calories worth of food I consumed with it which was high in fat and sugar as well.
The facts go to show just how bad it is to drink pop, not much else needs said. My advice is get away from soda now, drink lots of water, roughly at least half a gallon per day, and also stay away from sports drinks, as they have about the same amount of sugar as pop does. Steer away from pop, and you will definitely notice results within a couple weeks, granted you are exercising and dieting correctly. Well, see you guys soon, and good luck on your health goals.
