Fighting a Guilty Conscious

Going for an Evening Run

I was feeling a little sluggish tonight, as I broke one of my own rules that I had mentioned in my previous post about Weight Loss Techniques. I had advised everyone to stay away from fast-food. Yea that's right, even I break the rules, and its ok if you do it very seldom. A new Sonic drive-in restaurant just came into town and opened about 2 weeks ago. It used to be one of my favorite food chains, so I had to drop in for a meal.

Tonight, I would like to talk about reversing the guilt feeling and fighting the guilty conscious you get when you brake the rules and eat fast-food or something very unhealthy. I should start off by making it clear that it is ok to brake the rules. You can't expect yourself to be prefect because no one is. A goal/rule that I have worked into my everyday diet and exercises plan is that it is ok to slip up and have 1 bad day per week. This means that it's ok to go out and eat a bite at McDonald's or Wendy's, but I keep it restricted to one night per week only.

Following this idea will allow you to feel guilt free and feel less held down by your diet plan.

Sometimes, though, the guilt will still linger. The best thing to do in order to fight the guilt is to consider spending 15-30 minutes doing something active about an hour after you ingest poisonous unhealthy food. Doing this will allow you to rest assured that you burned off a good amount of what you took in. It's simple, easy, and quick, and maybe you'll be able to sleep at night.

What I did tonight was simple. I grabbed my ipod, and hit the street. I went for a 25 minute jog and I walked and stretched for about 10 minutes. It was nice because the temperature was down from a thunder storm that passed through earlier in the day. If you decide to walk or run as your guilt fighting activity, I would recommend doing this closer to sun down when it is easier to maintain a good pace.

This method is great and it definitely works. After I had finished my evening workout, I felt so much better and I guarantee you will too. This isn't the first time I have accomplished this either. I have done this hundreds of times, and it works every time. It's a great method and it helps you stay on top of your health plan and goals, as breaking the rules wont destroy your new-years resolution anymore.

That's all there is to it. An easy way to fight the guilt and add to your physical fitness.

- It's ok to slip up and eat something unhealthy.

- Make a rule in your health plan to allow for breaking a rule once per week.

- Pick a short activity that will help you feel better for breaking the rule and help you burn off most of the intoxicating unhealthy food.

Don't forget to stop back by for upcoming posts. Thank you for following along on my path to fighting the obesity epidemic.
