Weight Loss Techniques
Weight loss Techniques seem to be the hot topic in today’s world, so I thought I would take a swing at starting my very own weight loss blog. If you are reading this, I would like to inform you that this is my first blog. To start off, I will share a little about my self. I have recently graduated from high school, and I am currently continuing my education in college. I have played sports and have been associated with a physically active population for much of my life. I am very knowledgeable in the category of sports, physical conditioning and training, and weight loss. Much of what I plan to share with you I have actually performed myself, so I guarantee that it works. Believe me, I know! I have experienced these things first hand. In a sense, I have done much of the trial and error for you, but have learned quite a bit and came out of many of my trials with much success. I am here to help anyone who is willing to listen to what I have to say. I have valuable information that is clear and easy to understand. Without further ado, lets dive in.
What is weight loss?
Weight loss is more than just an attempt to lower numbers on a pedestal, and much more at that. If you are only concerned about losing pounds, then you are taking the wrong approach. When trying to tackle a weight issue, you want to always ask yourself if what you are doing, or considering doing for that matter, is right and healthy choice. A lack of proper knowledge, however, could make this a difficult question to answer. I will cover more on this topic in a later post. Knowledge is most definitely power when it comes to getting in shape. It's a mindset that took me some time to master. If you can constantly ask yourself the question mentioned above, then you have already made a turn for the better. Weight loss is a process that requires your full attention.
A Commitment to a Healthier You
As I mentioned earlier, weight loss is more than shedding pounds. In some cases, losing pounds is actually a good thing, but it shouldn't be your main concern by any means. Weight loss is about commitment. You have to truly want it, and even more commit to the idea that you want to be better. You want to be a healthier and sometimes a more active individual. Once you have achieved this, everything else falls in place. This is the first of many weight loss techniques I wanted to share. Before we go on, I would like to mention that this is the most important technique. If you have not achieved this, then you better stop and think about how bad you really want to get into shape. Everything changed for me the day that I realized how sick of being out of shape I was and that I wanted to be healthier. Committing changes your attitude. This allows you to critique yourself and realize what you are doing wrong. This will begin to lay the foundation that will lead and drive you toward achieving a better and healthier you.
Now that you have the mindset of a champ, your ready to learn what it really takes to lose weight and get into shape. But please be sure you are ready. If you are not 150% sure that you want to be a healthier and more active individual, then you will find yourself losing track and losing sight of your goals.
This brings me to my next topic. You must set personal goals, and by saying this, I don't mean a certain weight. Think about how active you want to be. Personally, I set a goal when I first started to be active at least 30 minutes per day. This is a pretty standard goal, but I found pride in exceeding my goal. I loved the feeling when I played a sport or lifted weights for an hour rather than just my preset half hour. It made me feel better from the get-go. It made me want more, and it even made me look forward to doing more. I loved it! It is important to set goals, and try hard to exceed or outperform them.
A Reasonable Diet
We have all heard and seen so much when it comes to this topic. There are things all the way from healthy choice frozen meals to mail order meals that are supposedly proportioned in a way that will enforce weight loss. In my opinion, they are all a joke, but I'm not here to bash meal choices. You must eat in a reasonable way, and in a way that will allow healthy changes to your body. Diet is nearly 75%-85% of achieving a healthy new you. You can workout and be extremely active, but for most normal people, if you neglect a proper diet, you will 9 times out of 10 fail at reaching your goals you set earlier.
What Does a Proper Diet Consist Of?
Following a proper diet is sometimes one of the most difficult things to accomplish, but if done correctly is the most rewarding of many weight loss techniques. When focusing on this technique, you must first of all stray away from fast foods. I know you hate to hear it, but the stuff is disgusting. If you don't believe me, watch Super Size Me sometime. The film directed by Morgan Spurlock demonstrates how horrible fast food really is.
You must also consider the amount of food you ingest at one time. Over filling yourself is an extremely bad thing that puts you back in your efforts of achieving weight loss and healthiness. I recommend eating 4 small meals per day along with 3 very small snacks in-between the meals. This would consist of breakfast, 2 spread out lunches, and dinner. The 3 snack times between these 4 meals would consist of snacks such as healthy choice snacks (peanuts, healthy chips, etc.) The idea behind this madness is to boost metabolism. If you are eating smaller meals when you actually feel hungry, your body begins to burn food faster, and if you always have food to burn, then your metabolism increases. The more you do to increase your metabolism, the better.
The Dirt on Carbs
Many of you are familiar with the low-carb diet. This diet is the most nonsense, and I would like to smack whoever invented it. Carbs are an important thing that your body needs. Without it, you would have no energy to achieve your goals. Yes, you can lose weight with this diet, but you feel hungry all the time because you never get that full feeling. Without the induction of a proper protein and carb percentage ratio, you are actually slowing your metabolism. This begins to backfire on the original plan to lose weight and obtain a healthy new you. There will be another post coming soon that will brake down carbs and proteins much better.
That’s all there is to it, real simple and basic.
